After back to back State Championships, the Deerfield-Windsor Knights were set for a rebuilding season. Despite having just two seniors and three eight-graders on the roster, the Knights still managed to earn a spot on the podium by finishing third in the AAA State Golf Championship.

Despite a trip to the Championship Series one year ago, and a 15-1 record against GISA opponents, the Deerfield-Windsor Knights are nowhere to be seen on the GISA AAA Coaches Top Five. If things go well over the next couple of weeks, the Knights hope to prove those coaches wrong.

The Lee County Trojans are ranked No. 1 in the AAAA Coaches Poll, No. 14 by Baseball America, and are 23-2 on the season. Starting Thursday night, all of that means absolutely nothing.

The Monroe Tornadoes and Westover Patriots battled for the Region 1-AAA Men's Track and Field crown just one week ago, with the Patriots winning that battle. Monroe heads to Jefferson this weekend hoping to one-up the Patriots, and take home a State Championship.

The Lee County Trojans have won 21 regular season games, have been ranked No. 1 in the GHSA AAAA Coaches Poll since the second week of March, and have lost to just one Class AAAA opponent all season. However, if the Trojans don't win two of three this weekend none of that will matter, because Lee County will not advance to the state playoffs.
